Best Hamburgers and Fries

The Barn —Located just north of Half Moon Bay

3068 N Cabrillo Hwy, Half Moon Bay, CA     (650) 560-8363

Explorer1.com Review ─ Best burger in Half Moon Bay! This is a great place for burgers, fries, salads, etc. Friendly staff, great food, and an inviting, rustic ambiance.

Keep in mind that most of their tables are outside. They have heat lamps, but you may want to bundle up.  Also, this is a really popular place on warm weekends, so be prepared for longlines—although they do move along quickly.

Cameron’s Pub— Located just south of Half Moon Bay

1410 Cabrillo Hwy S, Half Moon Bay, CA    (650) 726-5705

Explorer1.com Review ─ Good casual pub food. The burgers are tasty and the fries are hot and crisp—making them the second best burger. It has an unique atmosphere as one would expect from an English styled pub. Kids love it because they have a lot of video games, shuffle board and pool!

Half Moon Bay Brewery— Located at the harbor

390 Capistrano Rd, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019   (650) 728-2739

Explorer1.com Review ─ Coming in at #3, their burgers are good and the fries are tasty. What makes them truly great though is the Full Sail IPA and the views of the harbor and boats.

Best Inexpensive Restaurants

Taqueria Mordida

80 Cabrillo Hwy N, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Explorer1.com Review ─ Tres Amigos is still a good choice, but we believe that Taqueria Mordida has faster service and better tasting food. Located in Strawflower Village Shopping Center (close to Safeway), the good food, fast service, and low cost make this an exceptional value and one of our top picks for Mexican fast food in Half Moon Bay.

San Benito Deli — Located in the San Benito House

356 Main St., Half Moon Bay, CA (650) 726-3425

Explorer1.com Review ─ Excellent sandwiches and a great garden setting to enjoy them! From the quick service, to the tasty home made breads, this is one of the best places in HMB for great inexpensive food. Please note that long lines form on the weekends, but they usually move pretty fast.

Best Restaurants for Breakfast

Three Zero Cafe (3-0 Cafe) ─ Located at the Airport

8850 N. Cabrillo Hwy., Princeton-by-the-Sea, CA   (650) 728-1411

Explorer1.com Review ─ One of our breakfast favorites!  Watch airplanes takeoff and land as you enjoy great food and good service.  The restaurant has a huge menu selection of tasty breakfast favorites.  Indoor and outdoor seating is available.  Weekends can be busy, so plan ahead.  A low key, moderately priced restaurant.

Ketch Joanne & Harbor Bar

Pillar Point Harbor, CA (650) 728-3747

Explorer1.com Review ─ Good food, excellent service, and a cozy rustic ambiance make this an excellent choice for a low key, moderately priced restaurant.

Main Street Grill

435 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA (650) 726-5300

Explorer1.com Review ─ This restaurant has been serving up breakfast for many years. Fast service, pretty good food and reasonable prices make this a top pick for locals. Expect some waiting time on the weekends.

Best Restaurants for Lunch

Pasta Moon

315 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA (650) 726-5126

Explorer1.com Review ─ A nice cozy ambiance, great food and service make this a wonderful choice for a special occasion or romantic dinner. Prices range from moderate to expensive.

It’s Italia

401 Main St, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019    (650) 726-4444

Explorer1.com Review ─ It’s Italia is back! They had a rough patch a year or two ago, but since the kitchen fire and the remodel, they are back on top as one of the best restaurants in Half Moon Bay. Great food. Great atmosphere (inside and patio), Great service.

I’m not sure if this is the best choice for kids, though.  My 11 year old only likes their cheese pizza, but not much else. She also likes their lasagna, but don’t look for it on their brunch menu!
