Bale Grist Mill State
Historic Park
Located three miles north of St. Helena on Highway 29, the water-powered grist mill
was built in 1846 to ground corn and wheat into meal or flour. A trail connects the
historic park to Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.
Bencia Capitol State
Historic Park
Located at 115 West G Street in Benicia, it is the last surviving pre-Sacramento

Jack London State
Historic Park
Located just 20 minutes north of Sonoma at 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen,
the 800-acre park still contains the cottage residence where Jack London wrote and also
oversaw his various business enterprises. The park now lends itself to casual day walks,
hikes and bicycling. Also, a summer horseback riding concession is available. For those
wishing to camp can do so at the nearby Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.

Petaluma Adobe State
Historic Park
Located on the east edge of Petaluma, the park's main residence was once owned by
General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo who was one of the most powerful men in the Mexican
Province of California from 1834 to 1846. The adobe contains authentic furniture and
exhibits that depict early rancho life.

Stevenson State Park
Located seven miles north of Calistoga on Highway 29, the park features a five-mile
hike to the top of Mt. St. Helena. Along the hike, hikers will travel through
evergreen forests and chaparral. And when they reach the top of the mountain, they will
enjoy views of much of the Bay Area.
Sonoma State Historic
Park
Located at 20 E Spain St., Sonoma, the park contains Mission San Francisco de
Solano (circa 1823). It is one of the original 21 missions in California. Visitors
can walk through the streets that surround the town’s historic plaza, and visit over
a dozen buildings that were constructed between 1823 and 1855.
Anderson Marsh State
Historic Park
Located between Lower Lake and Clear Lake on Highway 53, the park is popular for
bird watching, hiking and picnicking. Also, the Anderson Ranch House displays some
of the archeological finds of Native American artifacts--some dating back as much as
10,000 years. |
