Volunteers Unite for Earth Day Events on Saturday, April 21st

What: Volunteer for one of four Earth Day cleanups in Santa Cruz and Monterey

- San Lorenzo River Cleanup at Water Street Bridge in Santa Cruz: 10am-1pm
- Beach Cleanup at Cowell/Main Beach in Santa Cruz: 10am-Noon
- Beach Cleanup at Manresa State Beach, sponsored by Nordic Naturals: 10am-Noon
- Beach Cleanup at Del Monte Beach in Monterey: 10am-Noon
Why: Give back to your earth for Earth Day this year. Volunteer with Save Our Shores to cleanup your community while creating cleaner, safer beaches, and a healthier Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary for us all. All cleanup materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to Bring Your Own cleanup materials like reusable bags, buckets, and gloves. Join the St. Patty’s Day Cleanup at Davenport Main Beach

What: Volunteer for the Monthly Santa Cruz Beach Cleanup with Save Our Shores
Where: Davenport Main Beach. Check-in at the parking lot on ocean side of Hwy 1 across from Whale City Bakery.
Why: Calling all ocean lovers and community members to join us at this month’s Santa Cruz Monthly Beach Cleanup taking place at Davenport Main Beach on St. Patrick’s Day! Spend the morning beautifying your local beach and protect the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary at the same time. All cleanup materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to Bring Your Own cleanup materials like reusable bags, buckets, and gloves. We’ll see you there!

Community-Wide Cleanup of the San Lorenzo River
When: Saturday, October 29, 2011, 10am-12pm
Who: Save Our Shores
What: River cleanup hosted by Save Our Shores and City of Santa Cruz for Measure E
Where: Meet at the small parking lot directly past the Laurel Street Bridge on your left, when heading away from downtown Santa Cruz.
Why: Save Our Shores and the City of Santa Cruz are hosting a river cleanup on the San Lorenzo River on Saturday, October 29. We’ve already had our first rains and will continue to get more – which means pollution and debris washing down our rivers and into the ocean. SOS will provide all cleanup materials including gloves, trash and recycle bags, rakes, grabbers, buckets and rubber boots, but feel free to Bring Your Own. All ages are welcome as children can clean along the top of the levee path. All participants must sign a waiver form in order to participate. For questions contact Emily at 831-462-5660 ext. 5.. This cleanup effort is funded by the City of Santa Cruz' Clean River, Ocean and Beaches Fund (Measure E).

Join the Panther Beach Cleanup on Saturday, October 15

What: Volunteer for the Monthly Santa Cruz Beach Cleanup with Save Our Shores
Where: Panther Beach. Check-in at the main parking area near top of beach path off Hwy 1.
Why: You can be a steward for clean beaches and healthy oceans at the Santa Cruz monthly beach cleanup at Panther Beach this October 15. Join forces with the Save Our Shores crew from 10am-12pm to give back to your community and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Why: Lend a hand for the oceans and prevent thousands of pounds of pollution from entering the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary during and after the busy, beach-going, Fourth of July holiday. Contact volunteer@saveourshores.org to participate, register online at saveourshores.org, or simply show up at 8am on July 5th for the second largest beach cleanup of the year. All materials will be provided. Beach cleanup volunteers are encouraged to Bring Your Own cleanup materials like reusable bags, buckets, and gloves.

What: River cleanup hosted by Save Our Shores and City of Santa Cruz for Measure E
Where: Meet at the new San Lorenzo pedestrian bridge on Felker Street, or from the opposite side of the river in the Petsmart parking lot.
Why: Save Our Shores and the City of Santa Cruz are hosting a river cleanup on the San Lorenzo River on Saturday, January 29. Come volunteer in your community by helping others clean up debris and pollution from the river before it washes into the ocean from the winter rains. Meet at the pedestrian bridge closest to Highway 1 at the end of Felker Street. SOS will provide all cleanup materials including gloves, trash and recycle bags, rakes, grabbers, buckets and rubber boots, but feel free to bring you own supplies. All ages are welcome as children can clean along the top of the levee path. All participants must sign a waiver form in order to participate. For questions contact Emily at 831-462-5660 ext. 5. Join Save Our Shores and the I Heart Clean Beaches crew from 10am-12pm and give back to your community by helping create cleaner, safer beaches, and a healthier Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
