Santa Cruz County has a tradition of fine winemaking that dates back to the late 1800's.  Today, the County is home to over 40 family-owned and operated wineries that specialize in small yield, handcrafted wines.

One Santa Cruz winemaker, Storrs Winery, uses grapes from selected vineyards throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. Producing 10,000 cases a year, their wines are distributed in 20 states in the U.S.A.  Their Chardonnay, considered by many to be one of the best made in Santa Cruz County, can be sampled along with their outstanding Merlot, Zinfandel and Gewurztraminer wines at their tasting room located in the Old Sash Mill at 303 Potrero Street, #35, Santa Cruz.  (Tasting Thursday - Monday, noon to 5 p.m.)
